The families of the Goderich Farmers Market, in the Municipality of Goderich, is the seventh installation to be released in an ongoing feature series of the Huron County Farm Family Spotlights. Many families operating various agriculture-based businesses, from fruits and vegetables to locally produced meat, cheeses, and honey, come together to grow their businesses. The Goderich Farmer’s Market is the place to taste real flavours, enjoy the season and support local farmers and producers. The Goderich Farmer’s Market is one of the oldest markets in Ontario, established in 1978 and has grown to include over 35 local farm vendors. Many vendors say that the Goderich Farmer’s Market is a cornerstone to their business plan, with the next generation now taking on the responsibilities attending every weekend.
“The Goderich Farmer’s Market is a family” exclaims Susan Carradine-Armstrong, Manager of the Goderich Business Improvement Association, facilitators of the Goderich Farmer’s Market, “When the vendors, patrons and tourists come back together on opening weekend, it’s like seeing your third cousin again at the family reunion! You catch up on how everyone’s kids are doing, what you did over winter.”
Operating every Saturday from 8AM to 1PM on the Square in Goderich from May 24th weekend to Thanksgiving weekend, the Goderich Flea Market follows suit every Sunday from 9AM to 3PM.
