Meet the Producer: The Whole Pig

Yummm Porkeroni. I have known Teresa and Martin Van Raay for many years now and have been able to sample almost all of their products. I will say that my favourite is their pepperoni, but everything is pretty delicious!


The Van Raay's have been farming for over 35 years just outside of Dashwood Ontario. They have told me that for 33 on the farm they were a farrow to finish operation. This means they bred the sows and raised their animals to market weight. A few years ago they made the decision to become a wean to market operation which means they receive their pigs or weaners at 3 weeks of age and raise them to market weight. Once the animals reach market weight they re taken to Metzger Meats (another great producer located down the road in Hensall!) where they are custom processed to their specifications, fast frozen and ready for delivery to freezers all around!



They have everything from chops, to steaks and roasts, ribs and tenderloins... plus they have a variety of specialty products such as BACON, ground, porkettes and the Tiara (loin and back ribs). All of this is available at the on farm store or you can order it online here:
