I had the pleasure of doing a Taste of Huron tour on the weekend. Our second stop was Bad Apple Brewing Company in Zurich.
We were welcomed warmly by the owners/operators Sarah and Jason Ingram.
On this part of the tour tour you can experience a tasting with Jason. While we did arrive at the brewery before noon as Sarah said “it’s five o’clock somewhere”.
We sampled three beers. The first was called Po Dunk Zurich Lager. Jason told us the interesting story of this beer is that a yeast strain in the states isolated a yeast strain from Zurich Switzerland. They shipped it from the states and brewed it in Zurich, Ontario. Put those together and you have a sort of Zurich Squared.
Jason was very knowledgeable of the brewing process and showed us all around the brewery including the tanks in the back. We also tried two other beers called Product or Circumstance and Bad Apple IPA. Most of us purchased at least one bottle.
After our purchases, and an adorably sold lemonade by the Ingram kids, we did a wander about the Apple trees. As one of my girlfriends said there is just something so romantic about walking in an apple orchard. As Sarah well telling us about the Apple orchard she did mention they do also have wedding photo shoots in the orchard. Romantic indeed!
We had an absolutely lovely time at Bad Apple Brewing Company. I would highly recommend this little Huron county gem to anyone passing through. It’s great for all ages.
As we were leaving Sarah said I feel I should hug all of you goodbye...which of course we all did. Come for the beer. Leave as family!
